![]() Remember the 3 Rs of the waste hierarchy? Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Well, RE-SPECS’ culture of waste reduction and sustainability proved its worth at the recent Sustainability Fair, a Raanana municipality initiative, on May 8th at Raanana’s bustling Yad LeBanim. Following our success at the Amutot Fair earlier in the week, RE-SPECS was invited by the municipality to join the equally popular Sustainability Fair during the Community, Social Responsibility & Environment Awareness Week. Reducing and reusing (1 and 2 of the waste hierarchy) are key components of RE-SPECS’ philosophy, as opposed to “recycling”, which entails energy to re-form the product for reuse. In keeping with the concept of zero waste, we ensure that glasses frames are salvaged and repaired or refurbished where possible, thus extending their lifetime to their threshold maximum period of usage. The Sustainability Fair enabled us to raise awareness of sustainable culture among the general public and to promote interest in tapping into the resource of reusable glasses frames for the benefit of Israel’s underprivileged. Our presence contributed greatly to the colorful, potent atmosphere of the occasion, and propelled us to the forefront of those advocating a more sustainable future for our community.
