RE-SPECS was introduced to 14 elementary schools through Ayelet Dalyot, Manager of the Educational Empowerment Unit, Elementary and Middle School Department of the Ra’anana municipality. The schools responded positively and spread the word among their student and parent bodies.
As a natural follow-up, RE-SPECS staff visits each school and addresses spirited youngsters of the Moetzet Talmidim as well as small groups of pupils. CEO Chana Simon engages her charges with a 20-min. lively, interactive presentation that keeps the children spellbound. They learn about the concept of
the organization, its name and logo, and its aims and goals. They get to feel hands-on what sorts of frames are collectible, what they’re made of, and which ones can be restored for use by a new owner.
RE-SPECS issues the schools with special receptacles for glasses collection (except in one case where an 8-year-old was so enthusiastic that he made a personalized bin for his own school!) As a follow-up token of
appreciation, each school receives a beautiful individualized certificate and thank-you letter.
Participating schools to date include Meged, Bar-Tov, Yachdav, Shaked, Tali, Bilu and Noam. After the Pesach vacation, RE-SPECS hopes to visit other schools in the area, encouraging them to go green
too!
