Why the fuss? Because we're proud of our achievements on behalf of the underprivileged.

And we're so proud, we're going to share it with you.

So just what have we been up to lately?
Let's travel the world...

BGU in Arad

Ben Gurion University students kicked off the year 2015 with an event about health that they organized as part of their Africa studies. Hosted in Arad for immigrant families, they provided eye tests and RE-SPECS glasses for elementary school kids in need.

Good Deeds Day in Tel Aviv

Held under the auspices of Ruach Tova, the Tel Aviv municipality and Beit Dani community center, the Good Deeds Day fair was a success. At the RE-SPECS booth, local kids from this indigent area of TA participated in a fantastic craft activity using recyclable materials, particularly old glasses lenses.

Good Deeds Day in Kfar Saba

As part of a nationwide event to promote social awareness, good deeds and organizations that engage in just that throughout the year, RE-SPECS held a booth at the fair in Kfar Saba's Kenyon Arim shopping mall. KS Mayor Yehuda Ben-Hamo was one of the many that graced us with their presence.

Ramaz School in NYC

Students of the Ramaz lower & middle schools participated in a fantastic glasses collection campaign. Rabbi Koslowe reminded the students that we recite the morning bracha "Pokeach Ivrim", and that sight is a gift that shouldn't be taken for granted. Thank you Ramaz!
B'nai B'rith in Melbourne

Spearheaded by Rona Roth, Yvonne Elton and Ruth Figdor, B'nai B'rith Victoria has been running a glasses collection project from far-flung Melbourne, Australia. More challenging than it sounds, they have graciously built into the project a system of finding travelers who bring the glasses to RE-SPECS. Good on ya, B'nai B'rith!
Bat Mitzvah Fundraiser in Dublin

Abigail and Jemima celebrated their Bat Mitzvah with a cake bake sale fundraiser in Dublin, Ireland. Assisted by their mothers and with the help of their other friends, they baked 100 cakes (!) and sold them through the school, the synagogue and the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO). We are so grateful for their donation to RE-SPECS of the funds they raised.
Volunteer Awards in Raanana

At a ceremony in the presence of Raanana Mayor Ze'ev Bielski, the municipality presented 37 youths with Medals of Recognition for their volunteer services to the community in 2015. We were proud to have nominated Eden and Daniel Heumann, two very capable 10th graders, and delighted to see them receive the award.

RE-SPECS Committee with Vision

At our recent AGM, we discussed ideas for driving the RE-SPECS vision further forward. One of the great achievements that came out of that meeting was the addition of two amazing new volunteers at management level, Alina Rutstein and Lisa Greenwald (not seen in pic). We welcome them on board with gratitude.
