RE-SPECS Opens New ClinicRE-SPECS Clinic Opens!

Thanks to the generous encouragement and support of our community and beyond, on Wednesday 14th August we officially opened the new RE-SPECS Frames clinic, located at 5 Derech Hasharon, Raanana Jct. Our tremendous thanks goes to all of you, our untiring supporters, who saw us through every stage of development of this project: first and foremost, thanks to our volunteers both younger and older; second, thanks to our donors, particularly during the crowdfunding campaign which saw the first year’s rent raised; third, thanks to the wonderful UK charity MyIsrael which lent overwhelming support for the renovations. We welcome you to come and visit the clinic Sun-Thurs 9am-5pm. Tel: (09)-955-5395, (058)-443-6735. To see recent pictures, click here.
RE-SPECS Opens Clinic Recycling for the Earth, Tzedaka for the People: a Volunteer’s View

Meet Miriam A., age 18. She has been volunteering with RE-SPECS for several months and recently wrote about her experiences.
“Ever had an idea so simple and practical, that you can't believe it hasn’t been done before? I feel lucky enough to have been able to volunteer recently for a non-profit organization, an amuta, whose goal is to bring just such an idea into reality. Read more...

RE-SPECTS Opens New Branch in Tel AvivNew Branch in Tel Aviv

Our constant aim is to help the underprivileged get affordable glasses and one of the issues we wanted to address is how to reach people beyond the Sharon area. To this end, we are proud to announce that we have opened a branch in Tel Aviv, to be run by one of our esteemed board members Ron Meidan. An experienced optometrist and head of Mabatim, Ron offers eye exams and glasses to the needy at an affordable price. As a fellow proponent of recycling and minimizing environmental damage, Ron identifies strongly with the vision of RE-SPECS – to collect used and surplus frames for the benefit of Israel’s weaker populations. At the Tel Aviv location, Ron will supply RE-SPECS frames to his clientele, backing it with a one-year guarantee. For details, phone 077-955-5705.
RE-SPECS Launches Dime CampaignRE-SPECS Launches Dime Prompt Fundraising Campaign

Ever heard of a dime prompt campaign? No? That’s because we created the concept and coined the phrase too! This ingenious idea is based on the concept of We Give You a Blessing and a Dime; You Multiply and Give in Return. A simple concept but how does it work? We send to our contacts and supporters one solitary dime (actually an e-dime) with the following message:

It took 10 cents to make you smile and get you thinking. See it as a small blessing. Now, imagine you multiplied that blessing manifold for a person in need. $10? $100? Get back to us with your blessing. Your donation can make a SPEC-tacular difference in a person's life. We know. We've seen it.  Read more
