What did RE-SPECS do on
Yom HaMaasim HaTovim (Good Deeds Day)?

Good Deeds Day, Tel Aviv

This past Tuesday March 11th was Good Deeds Day across the nation! The day began with a bang at the Tel Aviv University campus where second-year medical students in the New York/American Program at SackleSchool of Medicine volunteered to host a RE-SPECS fundraiser booth. Haviy, Myles and Dan raised awareness of the need to recycle frames for the benefit of those who cannot afford glasses. And they didn't stop there. With boom box blasting and free food, the sounds, smells and sights radiated from the booth, making their contribution to Yom HaMaasim HaTovim both meaningful and memorable.

Good Deeds Day, Raanana

RE-SPECS volunteers joined a musical bus tour of historical Raanana hosted by the Iriya Volunteers Department & the Municipal Archives. Participants had great fun. It was well organized with accordion accompaniment, and topped with a delicious lunch at Migo. RE-SPECS volunteers - you deserve it!
Other volunteers attended a free evening concert at the Raanana Music Center hosted by the municipality. The symphony orchestra comprised the best of the best of local youth, who played brilliantly, much to the delight of the packed audience.

That's NICE!

For a 2nd year running, hi-tech company NICE hosted us in building 2 where we had an informational booth and sold used & surplus sunglasses to raise funds for our projects.

Supporters clearly understood that they were serving a vital purpose in helping to provide glasses to the disadvantaged populations and that with a simple donation, they were not only receiving a "perk" of a pair of sunglasses but also sponsoring glasses for others. Can you get better value than that?

Good Deeds Day, Kfar Saba

The Kfar Saba municipality hosted a Yom HaMaasim HaTovim event for its volunteers at the Kiryat Sapir auditorium where they raised awareness of glasses recycling and collected frames for RE-SPECS. Just SPEC-tacular!

RE-SPECS' New Partner, Amdocs

On Good Deeds Day, Amdocs launched a project to engage their employees to collect eyeglasses and to support our programs. The initiative will be ongoing and may also see an expansion of our volunteer pool as more and more people share the vision!

So what did YOU do on
Yom HaMaasim HaTovim (Good Deeds Day)?

Project 2C: Helping Others to See

Project 2C is the fruition of a dream that was conceptualized in the last few months as the RE-SPECS venture began to evolve. The clinic began to operate in August, and we realized that some people were simply unable to pay at all for their glasses despite our nominal prices and were hobbling along without… This led to a new commitment: to ensure that every single person,
regardless of his ability to pay, would get the glasses he needed. Hence the desire to establish a special fund. The fund, Project 2C (to see), is intended to answer this need and to make sure that society’s weakest sector can obtain one of humankind’s most basic needs - a pair of glasses - for free.
B'nai Mitzvah Project Kicks Off!

Did you ever run out of creative ideas for your Bar or Bat Mitzvah? RE-SPECS has launched a B'nai Mitzvah platform through Rootfunding where you can personalize a campaign page to explain your chessed project, encourage others to donate glasses, and give them an opportunity to make a monetary donation in your honor for this special occasion. At our end, we host the Bar/Bat Mitzvah honoree and get them involved, hands-on, with the inner workings of our operation, culminating in a great craft project. You've got to see it to believe it!
